How to find us

The museum is conveniently located in the town centre. at the north end of Taff Street.

Parking

There is limited free parking for weekend visitors, located to the rear of the museum on Berw Road. On weekdays, please use one of the pay and display car parks around the town. The closest car parks to the museum are the Goods Yard, behind the bus station, or Gas Lane, which can be accessed at the north end of Taff street.

Getting here by car

From Cardiff: Take the A470 north and leave at the junction signposted for Pontypridd. At the roundabout, take the second exit (straight on) and move into the left hand lane signposted to the town centre. At the next roundabout (with traffic lights) take the first exit. Going past Ynysagharad Park on your left, you will cross a bridge next to the historic old bridge, and you will see the museum on your right.

From Merthyr Tydfil: Take the A470 south and take the junction signposted for Pontypridd, At the roundabout, take the third exit signposted towards the town centre. Going past Ynysagharad Park on your left, you will cross a bridge next to the historic old bridge, and you will see the museum on your right.

By rail

Services run from Barry Island and Cardiff Central to Pontypridd six times an hour on weekdays and Saturdays until early evening; look for trains to Merthyr Tydfil, Aberdare or Treherbert . The rail station is located on Broadway, at the south end of Taff Street and High Street. To reach the museum walk all the way down the length of this street, until you reach the old bridge and the museum will be opposite you to the right.

By bus

Pontypridd is very well served by bus, and the museum down the hill as you exit from the station cafe. From outside the local area you can reach the museum from Cardiff, Merthyr Tydfil and Blaenau Gwent by taking the X4 or the T4. You can also take the 120 or 130 between Caerphilly and Blaencwm which stops in Pontypridd.
