Guided history walk starting from Pontypridd Museum around Trallwn and Coedpenmaen.
The Trallwn-Coedpenmaen district encapsulates much of the story of Pontypridd – a rural, thinly-populated area which was settled and transformed within the space of a generation at the end of the 19th century. Where the busy A470 road now runs, the Glamorganshire Canal once provided an equally important mode of transport and it was an early catalyst for the profound changes which were on the way. This walk will highlight historical clues which reflect these changes and will set the community of Trallwn within the larger story of Pontypridd itself.
Booking required. Places on the walk will be limited to 20. To book a place please call Pontypridd Museum on 01443 490748.
The walk will start from Pontypridd Museum at 11am. Bridge Street, Pontypridd, CF37 4PE.
Pontypridd bus station is 2 minutes walk from the museum. Pontypridd railway station is about 10 minutes walk away from the museum at the opposite end of the town centre.
The route follows pavements and roads and should present no access difficulties. Comfortable footwear with good tread is recommended.
